About R.A.W
From the artist: To know what I am about, you must know my RAW. This is a term that refers to the depths of me, what values lie below, and therefore what produces the rawest form of me, of joy. My rawest joy is felt in the little things life allows me to witness, here are a few examples: listening to someone laugh after they’ve just been crying, when a little kid makes me something, hearing that I was in someone’s dream, when the whole room laughs at my joke, and so many more. For me, these simple moments are magical and bring out my purest form. Through my art, I have an ambitious goal. I wish to bring out viewers’ RAW. Whether that illicit a sadness, joy, anger, or any other pure emotion.
Ray Wondracek is a queer designer with hopes of reaching all audiences. They introduce a genderless grunge that illustrates an intriguing elegance. Ray designs with the ability to imagine unique and complex silhouettes through sculpture and a harmony between unconventional materials and fabric. Their strengths lie in illustration and the communication of a well thought out concept. They have always admired the ability to communicate with an audience, through their design they aim to enhance individuality and encourage the outward expression of one’s truest self through their designs. Ray has had some wonderful exposure to real concept creation and fabric manipulation from mentors at Central Saint Martins in London, England as well as Accademia Italiana in Florence, Italy. It was an eye opening experience and one that reignited their flame for the empathetic approach that they take to creation. Ray takes inspiration from everything, anywhere, all of the time. The smallest crack in the sidewalk or a stain on a shirt can launch catastrophic designs in their imagination. Ray wants to make an impact in the world through perspective-shifting pieces that inspire viewers and start artistic conversation.
